What's for dinner?
(Day 55) The neat thing about traveling from east to west is I gain time as I go. Upon arriving in Adelaide, I set my watch back half an hour. That's right, 30 minutes. I don't think there are too many places in the world where time changes aren't in hourly multiples.
Unlike Sydney and Melbourne, Adelaide had no huge skyscrapers. It was large enough to be bustling with activity, but it didn't have that huge metropolis feel. Looking at a map, you could tell the city was built adhering to a strict plan. The streets were wide and the layout was symmetrical; The five major parks were placed around the city like the five side of a die. Standing in Victoria Square, the park located in the center, I could see the outskirts of town in all four directions. It was a bit eerie. It felt like the Outback and miles of dry desert were just a short walk away.
I got on a free bus for a tour around the city. Adelaide's major landmark is probably its Festival Center, sort of a poor man's version of the Sydney Opera House. The Festival Center occupied a spot next to the river, and it would've been a lovely setting had the water not been so heavily polluted. Disgusted, I continued on.
Adelaide had its libraries, art galleries, museums, and government buildings, which I walked by but did not enter. I took a stroll down Rundle Mall and as usual, just looked and did not buy. Adelaide probably had more to it, but my sleep on the train wasn't as refreshing as I thought. I got back on the free bus and headed back to the hostel.
I stopped in a grocery store to pick up some food for dinner. Being so near the Outback inspired me to make myself a steak tonight. As I looked through the meat section, something caught my eye. No way... it couldn't be. Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight!
Back at the hostel I napped for a couple hours before cooking my food. In no time at all, I had made myself quite a feast. Very tasty, just like beef!
So what did you all eat tonight?
Thanks to everyone for their support and comments! Knowing people are reading keeps me motivated to continue the updates!

Oh my goodness. You did NOT just eat KANGAROO! I don't know if I could've done it. Funny how you said, "Taste like beef!" Everything usually tastes like CHICKEN to me. lol Anyway, told you I would do it. Can you believe it?! I'm all caught up. I also finished cleaning out my room and doing my laundry. Once my godfather leaves and hands me back my room, I'm gonna have to do things little by little and take out more stuff -- either to throw out, give out or donate to Goodwill. I'm aiming for simplicity. And believe me, yesterday, I was just passing my time away waiting to load up laundry so I was actually pretty entertained catching up on your stories. How long do you plan on staying in Australia? Oh and another question, how do you go about preparing your posts? Do you do it while you're in the internet cafe? And if so, how long does it take you? Or do you jot it down in your notebook and prepare which files go with which entries so that in one sitting you can do it all at the cafe, given that you pay at an hourly basis? Do tell. -GEM

After the kangaroo feast, do you feel you can win the NBA slam-dunk contest?

Ew. Eating kangaroo doesn't really seem very appealing, even though it tasted like beef. Kinda reminds me of Taiwan at Snake Alley (did you end up going there?). But I guess snakes are a whole different ballgame than kangaroo. Ew.
It's things like your post that make me THAT much closer to becoming a vegetarian :P

Hmm should really read your posts backwards. Make it less entertaining. I think ew kangaroo but I've have buffalo (bison really), ostrich and alligator. I missed Snake alley though but I have a feeling that I wouldn't have liked it.

oooh I mean I _shouldn't_ read them backwards

Good for you! If I had been there, I would have been eating the "Roo" steak with you (even though I have no idea if I would have liked it). What's the point of visiting other parts of the world, if you're only going to have the same experiences as back home. I say, try things and judge their appeal for yourself. It wouldn't have been much of a story (or an experience) if it had been beef.
